This is a contract role through to 30 June 2026, with a 12-month extension option. The role is hybrid, with preferred locations in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, or Adelaide. Applicants in other states and territories will be considered at the discretion of the hiring manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement Entra authentication, PIM, and access packages.
  • Manage and oversee data repositories in alignment with cyber security and governance standards.
  • Provide operational support and troubleshooting for production incidents.
  • Collaborate with cyber security teams to address vulnerabilities and incidents.
  • Support additional duties during electoral events, including on-call and extended hours.

Essential Criteria

  • Hands-on experience with SQL Server 2016-2022 and Azure SQLMI.
  • Strong T-SQL and PowerShell skills for automation and performance tuning.
  • Experience with SSRS, SSIS, SQL XML/JSON, and building data pipelines.
  • Proven ability to deliver compliant, high-standard database systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot production issues and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Must hold an active Baseline clearance and be able to obtain NV1 clearance.

Desirable Skills

  • Data modelling and visualisation (PowerBI).
  • Experience with other RDBMS platforms (Postgres, MySQL, Cosmos DB).
  • Knowledge of SQL Server architecture, clustering, and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with Azure high availability options, Bicep scripting, and Purview.

Additional Info

  • Travel to Canberra may be required for onboarding, planning, and training (approx. 1-2 times per quarter).
  • During electoral events, additional hours and on-call duties will be required to meet critical deadlines.
