Role: Transmission Engineer - Network Migration

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Transmission Engineer to lead the migration of legacy transmission networks to next-generation optical communication systems. This role requires deep technical expertise in SDH, DWDM, Ethernet, ASON, and Layer 0/Layer 1 technologies, along with hands-on experience in network migration planning and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze and document legacy transmission networks and dependencies

• Design and implement migration strategies to modern packet/optical platforms (DWDM, OTN, MPLS)

• Perform traffic cutovers, commissioning, and rerouting with minimal service impact

• Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and customers for seamless transitions

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues during and after migration

• Conduct acceptance testing and update network records post-migration

Skills and Experience:

• Strong knowledge of SDH/SONET systems and protocols (STM-1/4/16/64)

• Expertise in DWDM, Ethernet, ASON, and Layer 0/Layer 1 transport networks

• Experience with major vendors (e.g., Nokia, Huawei, Ciena, Cisco, Alcatel-Lucent)

• Proficiency in NMS tools and service provisioning

• Ability to interpret network diagrams and fiber plans

• Experience in legacy-to-modern network migration is highly desirable

• Scripting and automation experience for network configuration is a plus

• B.E./B.Tech. in Electronics, Telecommunications, or related field

• Strong communication and coordination skills
