Senior Tester

Extension: 2 x 12 months

This role will work within the Systems Integration and Operations (SIO) area of the Warfighting Networks and Applications Support Organisation (WSO), ICT Delivery Division, Chief Information Officer Group, Department of Defence.
The Senior Tester will be required to perform and/or have responsibility for duties including, but not limited to:

• Act as a senior test and evaluation officer in a mid-sized test team. Providing oversight direction to junior testers, and providing test reporting to management.
• Conduct Verification and Validation (V&V) of in-scope capabilities in accordance with standard Defence T&E policy.
• Manage and carry out testing of core infrastructure, and standard ICT foundation services
• Assist in developing core V&V artefacts with an aim to ensuring that the delivered systems comply with the overall capability needs.
• Liaise with technical and non-technical stakeholders, both internal and external to the project, to achieve desired V&V activities.
• Work closely with the V&V Manager in support of planning and conducting of V&V activities in different phases of the project such as DT&E and AT&E.
• Creation of test cases and detailed test procedures to verify and validate systems that support the capability.
• Assist with test execution pre-requisites, including but not limited to, planning and implementation of the test environments, identification and gathering of test data.
• Develop test cases and test procedure development.
• Assist in identifying risks and issues related to V&V, assist with mitigation activities and escalate as required.
• Adopt and adapt appropriate testing methods and techniques to solve problems in tools and testing approaches.
• Actively participate in the continual improvement of the V&V process in support of the project/program.

Required Skills and Experience:

• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Senior Tester.
• Experience with testing of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure elements such as compute, networks and storage.
• Experience with testing infrastructure applications.
• Working knowledge of Microfocus Octane, Application Lifecycle Manager (ALM), or similar test management tools.
• Experienced in execution of test procedures for large systems and system- of-systems with complex integrations.
• Experience with defects management.
• Experience in test requirements elicitation, management, decomposition, traceability, and documentation utilising test management processes and tools.
• Ability to effectively prioritise work and deliverables to meet specified timeframes.
• Demonstrated ability to analyse and document business and/or functional processes and requirements using standard analysis methodologies and tools.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• Experience working within the Defence environment.
• Experience with testing implementation of security controls derived from the Australian Information Security Manual (ISM) or similar sources.
• High level knowledge and understanding of Systems Engineering.
• High level knowledge and understanding of software defined technologies such as software defined compute, software defined networks and software defined storage.
• High level knowledge and understanding of DevSecOps principles.
