The Department is building significant digital capability within the Congestion Busting Program and is seeking Technical Leads to work across multi-disciplinary teams to help them drive leading practice engineering capability.

The role will:

  • Form and share the technology vision for the current and future products within an Export service line.
  • Provide day-to-day technical leadership to developers working within product teams.
  • Be responsible for identifying and co-ordinating technical dependencies between product teams inside export multi-disciplinary teams and dependencies on other teams.
  • Be responsible for the technical quality of the digital products and services within Export teams, including security and accessibility.
  • Works closely with the Architecture lead and other technical leads across each area of the program.



Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of modern JavaScript web application frameworks and libraries.
  • Worked in a team providing technical guidance to vendors implementing COTS products, ensuring alignment to requirements.
  • Strong conceptual understanding of event driven and domain driven design.
  • Good understanding of operating software on cloud infrastructure (eg. familiarity with platform-as-a-service and building twelve-factor apps). Experience with Microsoft Azure highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of common web security issues and how to avoid them.
  • Strong background working in agile, multi-disciplinary teams in a large-scale digital organisation.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical people.
  • Strong understanding of common patterns for developing maintainable and scalable web applications.
  • Collaborative, curious and helpful.



Selection criteria
Essential criteria

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of modern JavaScript web application frameworks and libraries.
  • Good understanding of operating software on cloud infrastructure (eg. familiarity with platform-as-a-service and building twelve-factor apps). Experience with Microsoft Azure highly desirable.
  • Strong background working in agile, multi-disciplinary teams in a large-scale digital organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience in assisting teams in implementing COTS product within an environment.
  • Strong understanding of common patterns for developing secure, maintainable and scalable web applications.
