We are seeking an experienced System Engineer to be part of a Technical Consolidation project, working within the Information Technology Services (ITS) division. The projects primary focus is the transition of commodity IT technologies and services which are presently maintained locally within departments, to the organisation's centrally managed and supported IT eco-system. The engineer will work in collaboration with other project resources to review, document and develop the high-level designs and migration plans, to securely transition local technologies and services. This will include, but is not limited to:

• Leading and facilitating technical conversations with numerous stakeholders within ITS and local IT teams, to elicit and validate the necessary technical information required to identify solutions, inform high-level designs and develop transition plans.
• Accurately documenting current-state IT environments, technologies and configurations across departments, and assist with technical alignment to the University supported IT eco-system.
• Working with project resources and technical staff to identify and develop optimal approaches to user and machine migrations, with a focus on quality outcomes and minimising impact to end-users.
• Working with project resources and technical staff to execute the transitioning of IT technologies and services to the centrally managed environment IT eco-system.
• Preparation and compilation of technical documentation, reports and supporting artefacts, as required.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years' experience working as a System Engineer across enterprise scale environments
• Proven experience in consolidation and migration activities, specifically Windows environments
• Expert knowledge of PowerShell scripting
• Experience with Vmware (as a Windows admin), Linux environments (Red Hat Enterprise, Ubuntu, etc…) and MacOS desktop environments.
