Primary purpose of the role
The Systems Administrator provides technical support for the day to day operations of the organisation's ICT systems and maintains and monitors the assigned domain of computer systems, business applications software and servers infrastructure ensuring the IT infrastructure network run efficiently.

The role is also responsible for applications software monitoring and associated servers monitoring management including installing, maintaining and upgrading applications and servers and ensuring all servers are backed up, and all the corporate data is secure from unauthorised access. The role also delivers a help desk service by providing 1st and 2nd level support for calls to the LAHC IT Service Desk including operational activities related to the triage of the LAHC IT Service Desk issues register system in place.

Key accountabilities

  • Perform programming scripting, involving writing programs to automate tasks.
  • Manage and troubleshoot network environments based on the Windows Server operating system.
  • Provide technical backup and perform diagnosis, escalation, follow through and resolution of faults and infrastructure problems reported by the Service Desk. Install, configure and maintain, where required PCs desktop and laptop, networking equipment and network operating systems.
  • Assist with projects adhering to the IT team project management methodology including creation of relevant project management documentation.
  • Monitor and configure networks and application systems to optimise performance and resolve faults. Undertake recovery action in the event of a system failure.
  • Establish and control system access and security levels. Implement and co-ordinate housekeeping procedures, including system back-ups, setting up user accounts, and monitoring file access.
  • Provide training and support for system software.
  • Plan and implement maintenance and upgrades for system software and hardware. Ensure all administration of systems as required and conducted by the IT team is done on a daily basis.
