Job Opportunity: APS6 Service Designer
Location: Australia

We are currently seeking three APS6 Service Designers to join a high-impact team working on service experience improvements that shape the future of essential national services. This is a leadership-level opportunity in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment where you'll help create positive outcomes for people across Australia.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to gather meaningful insights into participant and staff experiences.
Document and analyse current-state services, user journeys, and business processes.
Apply service design thinking to evaluate and improve processes, experiences, and touchpoints.
Facilitate co-design and design-thinking sessions with end users and stakeholders.
Advocate for the voice of the participant and ensure that service improvements are user-centred.
Develop and present prototypes and design concepts using tools like Figma.
Lead and mentor team members while managing performance, planning, and risks.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, representing the agency in negotiations and forums where required.
Essential Criteria:
Experience conducting both qualitative and quantitative research with diverse and vulnerable populations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly express ideas and influence outcomes.
Ability to create prototypes and mock-ups, ideally using Figma.
Solid understanding of design thinking methodologies and iterative design processes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to overcome complex service design challenges.
Desirable Criteria:
Experience with Agile and Lean methodologies in a government or public service context.
Understanding of how service design influences broader business processes and policy outcomes.
