Job Title: Senior IT Project Officer (APS6 Equivalent)
Location: ACT (Hybrid - minimum two days per week onsite)
Contract Duration: Initial 12 months with potential for two 12-month extensions
Start Date: Monday, 15 September 2025
Security Clearance: Baseline
Maximum Hours: 8 hours per day


About the Role

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Senior IT Project Officer to support the planning, execution, and delivery of IT projects. This role is critical in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives.

You will work closely with project managers, technical teams, business stakeholders, and external partners to coordinate project activities, monitor progress, manage documentation, and facilitate effective communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, implementing, and tracking IT projects.
  • Support project managers in defining scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Monitor timelines and budgets; prepare regular status reports.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to meet project requirements.
  • Manage documentation including schedules, risk logs, and meeting minutes.
  • Track budgets, procurement, and resource allocation.
  • Facilitate communication between technical teams and stakeholders.
  • Identify and escalate issues to minimise risks.
  • Support user training, testing, and change management.
  • Ensure compliance with IT governance and data protection policies.

  • Project sponsors and governance groups
  • External stakeholders (e.g., state partners)
  • Change, communications, and BAU transition leads

Essential Criteria

  1. Minimum 2 years' experience in IT project support or coordination.
  2. Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PMBOK, PRINCE2, Agile).
  3. Excellent stakeholder management and cross-team coordination skills.
  4. Strong organisational and communication abilities.
  5. Proficiency in project tools such as MS Project, JIRA, Confluence, or similar.

Desirable Criteria

  1. Project management qualifications.
  2. Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Business, or related field.
  3. Familiarity with change management and training best practices.
