This instrumental government department requires a skilled and experienced Senior .Net Developer to join the team on a contract until 30th June 2023 with the potential for a further extension. You will utilise your software development knowledge and expertise to contribute to the platform modernisation of a bespoke .NET application

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Application development based on defined and prioritised solution requirements and the solution design.
  • Implement automated unit and integration testing supporting developed functionality.
  • Investigate and resolve identified bugs.
  • Implement database changes supporting developed functionality.
  • Manage automated deployment of developed functionality to multiple environments.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify, communicate and resolve blockers.
  • Contribute to defining and estimating sprints.
  • Provide regular and concise updates for the status of work items.
  • Contribute to definition of technical documents and processes for configuration, support or use of implemented functionality.
  • Limited application support for implemented functionality during transition to BAU support.


Required Competencies:

  • High level of written and verbal communication
  • Knowledge of Agile delivery practices
  • Professional software development experience
  • Use of Azure DevOps or similar, including automated build/deploy practices
  • Application development with C# and Microsoft .NET and web front-end technologies (e.g. JavaScript, CSS, HTML, Angular/React)
  • Experience with developing and troubleshooting ETL processes
  • Transact-SQL experience
  • Ability to consistently develop following a defined solution design/architecture
  • Experience with relevant Windows Server infrastructure (e.g. IIS, file management, administration of processes and services)
  • Investigation and resolution of bugs in developed functionality


Desirable Competencies

  • Ability to design & implement automated unit and integration tests using xUnit or similar
  • Ability to work with limited supervision, based on direction and priorities defined by project/team management
  • Experience with platform modernisation activities and associated practices
  • Automated monitoring using Splunk or similar
  • Limited knowledge of network infrastructure
  • Experience writing technical documentation and support processes (e.g. troubleshooting/how-to articles) for developed functionality.
  • Software design and/or solution architecture skills
  • SQL database configuration and support experience
