We are seeking a Software Developer to join a growing digital capability initiative within a high-performing government agency. You'll be embedded in a multi-disciplinary agile team, contributing to the design, optimisation, and delivery of applications with a strong focus on user experience and modern engineering practices.

This role is ideal for a developer who values communication, collaboration, and technical excellence. You'll work closely with Business Analysts, UX Designers, Solution Architects, and other stakeholders to solve complex problems and deliver secure, scalable digital solutions that make a difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and enhance user-centric software solutions aligned with team priorities.
  • Develop secure, testable, and reusable code using modern frameworks and practices.
  • Collaborate with team members to translate problem statements into technical solutions.
  • Operate, monitor, and improve applications in production environments.
  • Contribute to code reviews and continuous improvement of the codebase.
  • Build full-stack features using frontend and backend technologies.
  • Apply test-driven or behaviour-driven development with CI/CD pipelines.

Skills & Experience

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven experience with modern JavaScript frameworks including React.js, Node.js, and Express.js.
  • Familiarity with tooling such as Webpack, Babel, Jasmine, or similar.
  • Proficient in HTML, CSS, and pre-processors like SASS.
  • Awareness of common web application security vulnerabilities and mitigation strategies.
  • Strong background in agile software development within cross-functional teams.
  • Understanding of scalable and maintainable web application architecture.
  • Experience working with cloud environments or platform-as-a-service models; knowledge of twelve-factor app principles is a plus.
  • Collaborative, curious, proactive and committed to continuous learning.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in software engineering, computer science or related disciplines.
