Procurement Officer - ICT Contracts (Government)
Location: Canberra, Melbourne, or Brisbane (Hybrid options available)
2 days in office location above 3 remotely.
Contract Type: Initial 6-month contract with likely extension
Rate: APS6 / EL1 Equivalent - Competitive daily/hourly rates
Clearance: Must hold or be eligible for a National Police Check
About the Role
We are currently seeking a skilled ICT Procurement Officer / Contract Specialist to support the delivery of complex ICT sourcing initiatives across major government programs.
This is a critical role responsible for managing end-to-end procurement lifecycles, ensuring compliance with procurement frameworks, and delivering high-quality, value-for-money outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the end-to-end procurement process for ICT goods and services in line with Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs) or relevant state frameworks.
Draft, review, and negotiate ICT contracts including Statements of Work (SoWs), Master Services Agreements (MSAs), and licensing agreements.
Collaborate with stakeholders across project management, legal, finance, and technical teams to align procurement strategies.
Conduct market analysis, engage suppliers, and run competitive sourcing activities including RFQs, RFTs, and RFPs.
Oversee contract compliance, risk management, and supplier performance.
Maintain accurate procurement documentation including approvals, justifications, and contract registers.
Provide internal guidance and training on procurement processes and best practice.
Support broader ICT transformation programs through strategic sourcing and contract advice.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Proven experience in ICT procurement and contract management, ideally within a government or large corporate setting.
Strong understanding of CPRs or equivalent public sector procurement policies.
Experience drafting and negotiating a range of ICT contracts (cloud services, software, hardware, managed services).
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to juggle multiple priorities with a high level of detail and commercial acumen.
Familiarity with procurement systems, particularly TechnologyOne ERP.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
Procurement qualifications (e.g. CIPS, Cert IV in Government Procurement & Contracting)
Knowledge of BuyICT panels, Whole-of-Government contracts, or vendor ecosystems
Experience in a central corporate procurement team
