This Queensland State Government Agency requires the skills and expertise of a Principal Sharepoint Developer to provide highly specialised Sharepoint development skills for the continued development and maintenance of systems operating on the Sharepoint platform, including systems critical to the agency, along with the provision of professional and specialist technical advice in relation to building-out existing and potentially new systems in Sharepoint. The role is expected to be highly influential to decisions made in respect of the advice it provides.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Generation and development of new ideas and solutions, systems analysis and development, and provision of professional advice and opinion to senior management which initiates new developments
  • Development problem resolution and conceptualisation, including identifying issues and advancing new or alternative approaches to servicing evolving business requirements.
  • Identifying new ways of adding value to business activities utilising the Microsoft Office 365 suite of products
  • Development of SharePoint Online business and system requirements and specifications, through analysing and interpreting business requirements, ensuring traceability of requirements throughout the project lifecycle
  • Creation (development and configuration) of SharePoint Online solutions for business areas based on their requirements, which may include modification of established methods, systems or policies
  • Working closely with other members of the team to ensure a smooth transition for staff, to using new products and processes to improve workplace efficiencies
  • Initiating and maintaining influential relationships with and between internal and external stakeholders, facilitates effective communications and fostering relationships across program / projects
  • Assisting with the planning and co-ordination of business process and system improvement, staff training and provision of support to stakeholders in order to achieve successful implementation of solutions
  • Effectively manage the discipline of Sharepoint development for the agency
  • Influencing, persuading and convincing others in a collaborative way through the provision of sound advice and demonstrating professional standards with a high degree of self-awareness, with superior abilities in consultation, networking, negotiation, partnering, documentation and advocacy, to achieve desired outcomes


As the successful incumbent, you will be assessed against how well you demonstrate proven specialised knowledge, extensive technical experience, skills and abilities:

  • In complex development, deployment and delivery of successful SharePoint Online solutions and projects, including those using Azure PaaS components to support SharePoint applications. e.g. Function Apps
  • In designing and building Intranets using Sharepoint Online
  • With the design, configuration, development, deployment, testing, migration and support transition of the following Office 365 workloads:
    • SharePoint Online
    • Power Apps
    • Power Automate
    • Power BI
  • Using Microsoft DevOps to manage backlogs, source code, builds and automated deployment pipelines
  • Determining and documenting business and technical requirements as User Stories, along with gaining agreement with stakeholders on the optimal approach
  • With high-level written and oral communications, interpersonal, negotiation, partnering and influencing skills.
