Experis are proud to be working with a federal government department who are looking to recruit a Power BI Specialist for an initial 12 month contract.
A Power BI Specialist working as part of the Data Platforms section will engage closely with various technical stakeholders, business subject matter experts and technical developers to support the Power BI Platform and build and maintain Power BI products for a range of audiences. The role will also contribute towards the design and oversight of the Power BI Platform, including monitoring use of the platform through tenant level reporting and integrating Power BI with other cloud-based services.
Power BI Specialists will be required to have:
- Advanced skills in in Power BI and intermediate level SQL - including the ability to refine and maintain models,
- Familiarity with Power BI architecture, administration, governance and the integration of Power BI with other cloud services,
- Experience in maintaining and overseeing a broad range of large datasets,
- Proficiency in Excel to store and analyse data, including using formulas and data manipulation to tell a story,
- Ability to assist and train departmental resources in integrating Power BI reports and dashboards into other Microsoft 365 and Azure based services,
- Strong written and oral communication, and ability to deliver complex data products and reports under tight time frames
- Be able to apply judgement and critical thinking skills to problem solve - including the ability to troubleshoot issues and identify the root cause of data inconsistencies and errors, and Relevant qualifications and demonstrated experience in information technology, data management, or related fields would be highly regarded
Criteria
Essential criteria
- Advanced skills in Power BI, DAX and intermediate level SQL, including the ability to build refine and maintain Dataflows and models
- Ability to integrate Power BI artefacts with other Microsoft 365 and Azure based services including utilising APIs to support tenant level reporting
- Strong written and oral communication, and an ability to support and train departmental resources on Power BI and resolve platform related errors and user issues
- Experience and proficiency in Excel to store and analyse data, including using formulas and data manipulation to tell a story
- Experience in developing and maintaining relevant design documentation such as specifications, standard operating procedures and user guides
Desirable criteria
- Experience with Power BI platform governance and administration
- An interest in or familiarity with Power BI architectural concepts
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms or an understanding of cloud concepts for data-related services. Experience with Agile methodologies
