About the Role
We're currently seeking experienced EL1-level UX/UI Designers to support the delivery of high-impact digital solutions within a critical federal government program aimed at delivering inclusive, participant-centred services. These are contract positions at the EL1 equivalent level, ideal for designers ready to lead and contribute to human-centred design in a complex policy and service delivery environment.
You'll be working across multiple teams, liaising with diverse stakeholders, and applying your design and research expertise to influence national-level service improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product and business owners to gather and evaluate user requirements.
- Facilitate co-design workshops and stakeholder engagement across participant, provider, and internal groups.
- Create wireframes, storyboards, sitemaps, and interactive prototypes (low to high fidelity).
- Lead usability testing and synthesise user research to inform design direction.
- Translate research insights into meaningful digital experiences across mobile and web.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of a design system.
- Align design solutions with accessibility standards and digital service principles.
- Produce high-quality deliverables in alignment with project schedules and governance requirements.
Skills & Experience - What We're Looking For
Essential:
- UI/UX Design Experience: Demonstrated success designing intuitive, engaging and inclusive interfaces.
- Design Tools Proficiency: Skilled in Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD or similar tools.
- User-Centered Design: Strong grasp of UX research, journey mapping, personas, and usability testing.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to co-design with developers, analysts, and business teams.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication with ability to present and justify design decisions.
- Problem Solving: Able to turn complex problems into elegant, user-friendly digital solutions.
Desirable:
- Government or public sector experience, including an understanding of WCAG 2.1 AA compliance.
- Familiarity with large CRM platforms and design system integration.
- Exposure to service design methodologies across multi-channel journeys.
