Job Title: Security Infrastructure Engineering Expert
Contract Duration: 24 Months (with potential extension up to 12 Months)
Estimated Start Date: Wednesday, 01 October 2025
Location: Canberra, Melbourne, or Adelaide
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (initial 6 weeks onsite, then minimum 3 days/week onsite)
Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1
Maximum Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience Level: EL1 equivalent

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Security Infrastructure Engineering Expert to join a dynamic team supporting critical government service delivery. This role involves implementing, managing, and retiring infrastructure that supports digital services, with a strong focus on security administration and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recommend, evaluate, and deploy hardware and related software assets.
  • Resolve complex infrastructure-related incidents and problems.
  • Manage network infrastructure (WAN, LAN, WLAN, firewalls, routers, switches).
  • Oversee computing infrastructure (data centres, mainframes, midrange systems, servers, desktops).
  • Lead and guide technical teams with a high degree of independence.
  • Maintain accurate security records and ensure compliance with security procedures.

Technical Skills Required

  • Proficiency in Mainframe Assembler, NCL, CLIST, REXX, and zSecure Carla.
  • Deep technical knowledge of CA-ACF2 and IBM RACF, including integration with MFA, Digital Certificates, and PassTicket.
  • Strong understanding of SIEM technologies and ability to develop Use Cases for Mainframe event ingestion.

Essential Criteria

Candidates must address the following in a one-page pitch (max 5000 characters):

  1. Ability to co-design and define mainframe security in a cyber security and fraud context.
  2. Experience managing complex ICT environments and infrastructure.
  3. Proven leadership and independent working capabilities.
  4. Ability to interpret technical requirements and communicate effectively with technical teams.
  5. Expertise in ICT landscape design, deployment, and security.
  6. Strong understanding of mainframe operations, including user access revalidation and super user activity monitoring.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in cyber security, infrastructure, and fraud.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills aligned with strategic goals.
  • Experience in user engagement activities such as UAT, training, and feedback sessions.
