About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a skilled Senior Gateway Engineer to join a dynamic team delivering a major ICT capability development project. This role is integral to designing, building, testing, and operating ICT systems, including a gateway capability that connects Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) projects to strategic networks.
The successful candidate will work closely with ICT teams to provide technical expertise in developing a robust gateway infrastructure capability. The role requires extensive consultation across multiple technical teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and data security in a complex ICT environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert advice on the management and maintenance of ICT platforms, ensuring a robust gateway infrastructure capability.
Liaise with architecture and shared service areas to ensure secure technical operations.
Offer detailed, specialist technical advice, including strategic guidance to senior executives.
Develop and implement strategies, operational policies, procedures, and change initiatives.
Prepare and maintain documentation, including design documentation, implementation plans, and test plans.
Collaborate with external agencies and service providers to enhance service delivery.
Represent the organisation at interagency meetings and forums to influence business outcomes and share knowledge.
Encourage innovation, continuous improvement, and support change management initiatives.
Contribute to ICT strategy, resolving conflicts as needed.
Communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a team.
Operate efficiently under pressure, both independently and as part of a broader technical team.
Essential Skills and Experience
Proven expertise in designing services using F5/Blue Coat Layer 4-7 switching/load balancing and proxy systems.
Strong experience in designing and deploying network infrastructure, including Cisco Data Centre technologies, Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), Cisco routers, Nexus switches, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
Experience with Palo Alto firewalls and IPS solutions.
Expertise in VPN technologies, email, and DNS (Infoblox) solutions.
Experience in designing and integrating hybrid and public cloud services.
Proficiency in developing and maintaining system architecture and design documentation.
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and complex ICT environment.
Desirable Skills and Experience
Knowledge of Australian Government information security policies, the ASD Information Security Manual, and Essential Eight.
Relevant industry experience.
Security Clearance & Assessment Information
Once successful, an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) will be conducted as part of their onboarding. This role will require you to obtain a TSPV security-clearance but our client is only seeking NV1 cleared personnel to begin the role. TSPV is requires as you will be collaboration with key stakeholders and access necessary systems for project deliverables.
