EL1 Cyber Security Operations Platform Engineer

This Federal Government Agency have an opportunity for an EL1 Platform Engineer to lead the development of both core and emerging cyber security technologies, including SIEM, SOAR, Vulnerability Management, and Threat Intelligence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Development: Interpret business strategic direction and functional requirements to enhance the agency's defensive posture.
  • Collaborative Projects: Work with internal project teams and stakeholders to develop and deliver key cyber technologies.
  • Orchestration and Automation: Introduce and develop orchestration and automation technologies.
  • Threat Detection: Design, develop, and introduce detection mechanisms, algorithms, and search queries to proactively identify cyber threats.
  • Continuous Improvement: Refine processes, methods, and technologies to enhance the cyber security posture of the agency.
  • Mentorship: Translate complex technologies into simple processes and mentor junior staff.
  • Documentation: Provide and maintain high-quality documentation, including architectural designs, Standard Operating Procedures, and Service Design packs.
  • Specialist Advice: Participate in procurement activities and provide expert advice.

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience with Azure, M365, and AWS technologies, demonstrating their ability to work within these platforms to develop cyber security solutions.
  • Familiarity with log aggregation and Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM) systems
  • Experience developing and implementing cyber security capability and systems
  • Knowledge of the Information Security Manual (ISM) and cyber security concepts
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound stakeholder relationship skills
  • Australian Citizenship is essential
