The DBD combines retail digital functions with the Digital and Analytics Office to enhance agricultural exports and safeguard Australia's agricultural production. We focus on transforming export and import systems, streamlining processes, and implementing key digital reforms through initiatives like Taking Farmers to Market (TFTM) and STEPS.

We are seeking an experienced SQL Database and Applications Developer to work under Technical Leads and Directors. Candidates should have experience in maintaining, designing, and developing new and legacy software applications, along with strong technical skills, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to create clear technical documentation.

Under the direction of the Technical Lead and Director, you will be responsible for:

  • Design, build, test and deploy applications using technologies including SQL, Delphi, C++, Centura (Team Developer 7) & .Net core.
  • Work with Technical Lead and Subject Matter Experts to translate user stories into technical designs for implementation and deployment.
  • Plan, document, and manage deliverables (tasks and stories in DevOps) assigned to you.
  • Monitor and support production issues and incidents.
  • Remediate and uplift application infrastructure to supported server platforms or cloud based solutions.

Knowledge and experience

  • 5+ Years development experience in SQL Database development, management and support using SQL Server 2008+ (Mid to Senior level position)
  • Strong experience in application development using Delphi, C++, Centura (Team Developer 7), & .Net core.
  • Experience using Visual Studio 2017+
  • Experience in technical analysis, design and documentation
  • Experience in Azure, Git, DevOps pipeline deployment
  • Experience using agile methodologies (i.e. SAFe)


Skills and capabilities

  • Tertiary qualifications in software design and development
  • UX design background with experience with accessibility
  • Experience with modernization and conversion of older applications and infrastructure
  • Message based system architecture
