Application Technical Specialist - EL1 Equivalent

About the Role
As an Application Technical Specialist, you will provide expert technical guidance to support the implementation and delivery of systems aligned with the organisation's ICT strategy. You will play a key role in improving operational practices, driving innovation, and ensuring high-quality service delivery across technology platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional ICT product and service delivery, including strategic planning and staff development.
  • Ensure service stability through technical advice, prioritisation of system changes, and collaborative implementation.
  • Manage specialist technology services, identify and mitigate risks, and ensure operational continuity.
  • Provide expert advice on technology implementation, policy development, and risk management.
  • Design innovative technology solutions to enhance business operations and maintain system security.
  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment and positive user experiences.
  • Maintain compliance with cyber and information security requirements.

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience in managing technology systems and services, including automation and infrastructure.
  • Strong background in software lifecycle practices and configuration management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage third-party service provision and provide strategic advice.
  • Experience in maintaining operational security and investigating breaches.
  • Skilled in release management, including communication, compliance, and automation tools.

Desirable Criteria

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.
  • Relevant academic qualifications in technology or related fields.
  • Vocational certifications in modern technologies (e.g., cloud, platforms).
  • Certifications in software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, SAFe).

Contract Details

  • Start Date: Thursday, 20 November 2025
  • Duration: 6 months + possible 6-month extension
  • Location: VIC
  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid, 40 hours per week
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain Baseline
