Senior Solution Architect | April Start


Our Federal Government client is seeking an experienced Senior Solution Architect to lead the design and delivery of complex, enterprise-scale digital solutions. This role provides architectural leadership across multiple domains, ensuring alignment with whole‑of‑organisation strategy, enterprise standards, and government architecture principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end‑to‑end solution and integration design, ensuring alignment with Enterprise Architecture standards, target reference architectures, and technology principles.
  • Provide architecture leadership across cross‑functional teams - analysts, designers, developers, and fellow architects.
  • Develop solution designs, functional specifications, roadmaps and blueprints, including proposals and business cases.
  • Work closely with SMEs, Project Managers and Architects to scope, shape and govern overarching solution approaches.
  • Ensure architecture recommendations meet evolving business needs and deliver secure, scalable, flexible and supportable solutions.
  • Support production and deployment challenges with expert guidance when required.
  • Contribute to Architecture Governance processes, including presenting and seeking endorsement at Architecture Boards.
  • Maintain the architecture repository and support BAU operations of the Solution Architecture practice.
  • Provide leadership to junior architects and contribute to improving architecture practice maturity.


Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience designing enterprise-scale, end‑to‑end solution architectures within government or large complex organisations.
  • Strong background in application architecture, integration, APIs, digital platforms, workflows, low‑code platforms, identity and access management.
  • Experience with modern technology platforms
  • Experience delivering Digital Experience solutions or DXP platforms highly regarded.
  • Proven capability working in multi‑cloud environments (M365, Azure, AWS).
  • Experience with Agile delivery, DTA Digital Service Standards and service design desirable.
  • Familiarity with TOGAF, Zachman, and Architecture Governance frameworks.
  • Ability to manage or mentor other architects and uplift architecture practices across an organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience running or contributing to Architecture Governance forums, including decision-making and technical leadership.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Has previously led an Architecture Practice or provided senior oversight across multiple architects.
  • Strong grasp of architecture governance in a Federal or State Government context.
  • Proven examples of uplifting architecture maturity, improving processes, or leading practice transformation.
  • Comfortable chairing or presenting at Architecture Boards or Governance forums.
