Project Manager - ICT Transition (EL1 Equivalent)
Location: Canberra, ACT
Contract Type: Full-time, Contract to 30 June 2026 (with potential for extension)
Security Clearance: Active Negative Vetting Level 1
Work Arrangement: Onsite at Government House, Canberra

Are you an experienced ICT Project Manager with a strong background in public sector transitions and stakeholder engagement? We're seeking a dedicated professional to lead a high-impact ICT transition project within a prestigious government office.
About the Role
This role will oversee the transition of ICT services from an internal arrangement to a shared services model with another government department. You'll be responsible for managing the project end-to-end, supporting a small in-house IT team, and ensuring continuity, security, and strategic alignment throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive ICT strategy aligned with business goals.
- Lead the transition of ICT services to a shared services provider, ensuring value for money and service continuity.
- Provide strategic advice to internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with agency leaders to understand and deliver on technology needs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage contracts and agreements related to ICT services.
- Ensure IT systems and data security, and mitigate risks.
- Oversee daily operations of the ICT team, including staff and resource management.
Essential Criteria
Candidates must submit a one-page pitch (up to 5000 characters) addressing the following:
1. Financial Management (SFIA Level 4):
Experience in monitoring financial records, budgeting, and financial reporting for ICT projects.
2. Project Management (SFIA Level 5):
Proven ability to lead medium-scale ICT projects, manage risks, control changes, and deliver within scope, time, and budget.
3. Stakeholder Relationship Management (SFIA Level 5):
Strong communication and engagement skills with diverse stakeholder groups, including technical and non-technical audiences.
What We're Looking For
- A seasoned ICT Project Manager with public sector experience.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work onsite in Canberra.
- Eligible to obtain NV1 security clearance.
Contract Details
- Initial term to 30 June 2026.
- Potential for extension by agreement.
- Full-time hours (7.5 hours/day).
