One of our large NSW Government client is looking for a Program Manager to join them. 12 months contract with a view for extension.

Primary purpose of the role

The Program Manager leads and manages the delivery of allocated programs so that planned outcomes and benefits are achieved.
The Program Manager is responsible for leading and managing the delivery of complex organisational change programs, particularly related to schedule, scope, budget, risk, stakeholder management and outcomes that will enable benefits realisation.
The role leads, mentors and advises project managers and project program resources to ensure ongoing learning and development and the delivery of projects and programs meets or exceeds organisational standard

Key accountability

* Initiate and lead new programs and projects, where required, and manage programs to ensure timeframes and deliverables are achieved to scope and budget
* Manage programs ensuring project scope, scheduling, interdependencies, financial accountability, benefits management and governance are delivered in line with the approved frameworks and objectives.
* Manage key program stakeholders (internal/external) to define and integrate program outcomes to business as usual
* Establish, manage and report to appropriate governance forum and key stakeholders on program budgets, scope, issues and risks (includes preparation of variations if required)
* Plan, execute and manage the performance of the program team to deliver programs aligned to business and customer requirements and within the required timeframe and quality requirements
* Coach and mentor project and program teams to ensure ongoing learning and development that uplift the delivery capability of the teams to meet all required standards
* Identify and manage issues, risks and interdependencies, escalating them, where appropriate, to the appropriate governance forum, to ensure prompt issue resolution and proactive forward planning

Key challenges

* Managing complex, multi stakeholder project initiatives which have the ability to positively impact customer experience ensuring the delivery of the program outputs is in line with budget, financial delegations and frameworks.
* Implementing new change initiatives within a complex change environment, where staff may not engage and there may be conflicting priorities.
* Liaising with and influencing branch senior management, and their respective managers/teams, to support the development and delivery of project outputs and program outcomes.

Key knowledge and experience

* Extensive experience in the leadership and management of significant change programs in a rail or similar environment with demonstrated knowledge of a range of project methodologies including Prince2, PMBOK and Agile
* Demonstrated ability to ensure alignment of the program outcomes to organisational strategic objectives
* Demonstrated experience in the end-to-end delivery of programs throughout their lifecycle from initiation through to delivery of the new capabilities and realization of benefits
