Product Owner

We are seeking a skilled Product Owner to join a major program of work within a complex government environment in Canberra. This role offers the opportunity to influence product outcomes at scale, support high value strategic initiatives and guide the delivery of impactful digital solutions. NV1 clearance is essential.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Defining and managing the product vision, strategy and roadmap across multiple projects
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to analyse needs and align the roadmap with strategic goals
  • Gathering and prioritising stakeholder requirements into a clear product backlog based on business value or return on investment
  • Continuously refining the backlog using feedback and emerging needs
  • Developing detailed product feature specifications and ensuring they are clearly understood by relevant teams
  • Overseeing the product development process and supporting smooth delivery
  • Providing regular progress updates to stakeholders
  • Working closely with IT partners to provide clear requirements and support delivery
  • Managing product release priorities and coordinating the delivery of new functionality
  • Tracking product performance and using insights to drive continuous improvement
  • Identifying and mitigating roadblocks to achieving business outcomes
  • Contributing to organisational change management activities connected to product delivery
  • Serving as a product ambassador by sharing knowledge and responding to queries

Required Skills and Experience

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or in a similar role
  • Strong understanding of Agile principles and practices
  • Ability to assess business value across features and functions
  • Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to navigate and manage conflicting stakeholder needs
  • A data driven mindset with strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and problem solving ability
  • Experience working within complex environments
  • NV1 clearance and Canberra based
