We are seeking an experienced Senior SAP BTP Developer Software Engineer to join a large and complex public sector environment. This role is suited to a senior engineer who enjoys technical leadership, designing scalable cloud solutions, and working across modern SAP landscapes.

You will play a key role in building and enhancing SAP BTP solutions, supporting enterprise scale systems, and guiding best practice development while working closely with stakeholders and internal teams.

About the role

As a Senior SAP BTP Developer, you will provide technical leadership across end to end solution design and development. You will oversee quality, performance, and compliance of software delivered, while mentoring team members and transferring knowledge to internal staff.

Key responsibilities

• Build end to end applications using SAP BTP backend technologies including CAP, Node.js and Java, and frontend frameworks such as SAP Fiori and SAPUI5
• Develop cloud native ABAP extensions in SAP BTP ABAP Environment for S4HANA
• Design and deliver scalable side by side extensions using the CAP model
• Define long term SAP BTP architecture and migrate legacy customisations away from the S4HANA core
• Implement SAP Build Process Automation to reduce manual effort and streamline processes
• Model data structures using SAP HANA Cloud and SAP Datasphere
• Configure BTP subaccounts, destinations, and authentication using OAuth and SAML via SAP IAS
• Develop and optimise CDS based data models
• Manage CI CD pipelines, testing, and deployment across Cloud Foundry or Kyma
• Deliver workflows and bots using SAP Build Process Automation
• Facilitate Design Thinking workshops and translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Ensure all development aligns with SAP BTP Developer Guide standards
• Collaborate with stakeholders and adapt to changing priorities
• Provide documentation, knowledge transfer, and ongoing technical guidance

Deliverables

• Business and functional specifications translating user needs into SAP BTP capabilities
• BPMN 2.0 process maps and Technical Design Documents
• Technical designs for CAP and RAP applications and SAP Integration Suite iFlows
• Strategic roadmaps covering cloud migration and legacy decommissioning
• Risk management plans and regular progress reporting

Essential skills and experience

• 10 plus years experience in the IT industry with deep expertise in SAP BTP
• Strong understanding of SAP BTP integration with S4HANA and SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
• Proven experience delivering SAP BTP solutions in large public sector environments
• At least two successful end to end SAP BTP implementations
• Experience working in SAP Sovereign Cloud or SAP Private Cloud Edition
• Strong development skills across Node.js, Java, JavaScript, Python and ABAP Cloud
• UI and UX experience using SAP Fiori and SAPUI5
• Hands on experience with SAP CAP, SAP RAP, and SAP Integration Suite
• Experience with BAS, Eclipse ADT, GitHub and DevOps practices

Desirable experience

• Development of REST and OData APIs for SAP and non SAP systems
• Experience working in large, complex organisations
• Strong DevOps and CI CD delivery experience
