A highly specialised role is available for an experienced Penetration Tester (PENT 5) to contribute to a major ICT capability development project within the Australian Government. This role involves analysing IT systems to identify vulnerabilities, assessing security risks, and providing recommendations to enhance network security.

About the Role

The successful candidate will join a specialist Technical Data Team (TDT) supporting a large-scale ICT project that integrates Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities within Defence. The role will focus on designing, building, testing, and operating ICT systems, including a secure gateway capability that facilitates classified data transfer between Defence networks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct penetration testing of ICT applications and gateway infrastructure
  • Utilise various testing techniques, frameworks, and tools
  • Develop and execute penetration test plans and procedures
  • Document testing approaches, methodologies, and results
  • Produce comprehensive penetration test reports
  • Recommend technical solutions to address identified vulnerabilities
  • Ensure testing aligns with security policies, guidelines, and objectives
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across Defence and government agencies

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Ability to work in a complex, fast-paced environment

Desirable:

  • Experience with or knowledge of Australian Government information security policies
  • Understanding of the ASD Information Security Manual and Essential Eight

Security Clearance & Assessment Information

Once successful, an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) will be conducted as part of their onboarding. This role will require you to obtain a TSPV security-clearance but our client is only seeking NV1 cleared personnel to begin the role. TSPV is requires as you will be collaboration with key stakeholders and access necessary systems for project deliverables.
