About the Role
A Federal government agency is seeking an experienced Digital Forensic Investigator to join its Cyber Operations function. This role is integral to the agency's Digital Forensic Capability and will involve leading complex investigations, collecting and analysing digital evidence, and ensuring the integrity and chain of custody is upheld throughout the forensic process.
You will work within a specialised cyber operations team responsible for monitoring, protecting, and defending a large, globally distributed ICT environment from cyber threats.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Lead and conduct comprehensive digital forensic investigations across a wide range of devices, systems, and cloud environments.
- Perform forensic evidence collection, ensuring integrity, accuracy, and strict chain‑of‑custody handling.
- Prepare detailed investigation reports and provide actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
- Contribute to team knowledge by developing SOPs, process documentation, and sharing best‑practice methodologies.
- Provide technical leadership over the organisation's forensic tooling suite, ensuring appropriate maintenance, patching, and updates.
About the Team
You will be part of a highly skilled Cyber Operations team responsible for safeguarding a large, complex ICT environment. The team's mission is to continuously monitor, detect, and respond to potential cyber threats while ensuring the resilience and protection of global networks.
About You
To succeed in this position, you will bring:
- Extensive experience in digital forensics, incident response, and evidence handling.
- Strong proficiency in recognised forensic tools, methodologies, and frameworks.
- Ability to lead investigations independently, with exceptional analytical and reporting skills.
- High attention to detail with a strong commitment to maintaining evidence integrity.
- Demonstrated experience operating at SFIA Level 5 or equivalent.
