Lead Digital Performance Analyst (Contract)
Location: ACT (Onsite)
Start Date: February 2026
Contract: 12 months + up to 2 x 12-month extensions
Security Clearance: Baseline
Experience Level: Lead / EL1 equivalent

We are seeking an experienced Lead Digital Performance Analyst to support reporting, performance analysis, and data-driven decision making within a large and complex government environment. This role is ideal for a senior analyst who thrives on turning operational data into clear insights and actionable recommendations that drive business improvement.

About the Role

As a Lead Digital Performance Analyst, you will be responsible for reviewing reporting and performance needs, identifying opportunities for improvement, and delivering high-quality analysis and reporting solutions. You will work closely with senior stakeholders to influence decisions and improve processes through better use of data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop automated reports, conduct in-depth analysis, and provide insights into key performance metrics
  • Design and present clear, high-quality visualisations and dashboards for executive and senior management audiences
  • Produce high-level artefacts including business, process, and data flow diagrams (current and future state)
  • Prepare analysis documentation and present findings and recommendations to senior executives
  • Develop and maintain technical and system documentation as required
  • Identify process inefficiencies, redundancies, and automation opportunities, and propose practical solutions

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience working with high-volume operational and transactional data
  • Strong analytical capability, including both qualitative and quantitative analysis
  • Experience analysing data across platforms such as Microsoft Azure
  • Demonstrated ability to gather requirements and define clear reporting specifications
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate business needs into data-driven solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and accessible way
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and collaboratively

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience with Power BI
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Experience using Python and/or R

Selection Criteria

Candidates will be required to address the following criteria (responses required for each):

  • Gathering requirements and defining report specifications
  • Data modelling and data extraction from existing systems to support future enhancements or integrated data models
  • Working with transactional and point-in-time data
  • Mapping and visualising process pathways and identifying bottlenecks
  • Identifying metrics that contribute to process improvement
