Infrastructure Engineer - Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM) Specialist

About the Role
This position is critical to maintaining secure, scalable, and modern identity services across the organisation. You will work within a collaborative team responsible for identity management, Windows Server environments, security tools, and privileged access management. The role involves close engagement with IT and business stakeholders in a dynamic environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage enterprise identity platforms including Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM) and Unify Broker.
  • Troubleshoot and advise on identity and access issues, particularly MIM workflows and HR system integration.
  • Drive continuous improvement of identity workflows and configurations to enhance security and user experience.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, HR, and application teams to deliver secure identity services.
  • Contribute to strategic planning for identity and access management, including governance and roadmaps.
  • Produce high-quality documentation (change records, procedures, designs, security assessments, knowledge articles).
  • Share knowledge and mentor team members.
  • Support and maintain Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions (e.g., CyberArk, Secret Server) and assist with broader server management tasks.


The Ideal Candidate
To be considered for this opportunity, you must demonstrate past experience in your resume and provide clear summaries of your actual hands-on expertise. Specifically, you will have:

  • Hold a Baseline Clearance or above
  • 5+ years of expert-level experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM) technologies:
  • Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM)
  • Unify Broker
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting for automation and integration
  • Entra ID for modern identity solutions
  • Strategic understanding of access governance and control in complex government environments.
  • Proven ability to mentor and upskill staff.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity tools and methodologies (application whitelisting, host-based firewalls, vulnerability scanning, device control).
  • Familiarity with Australian Government cybersecurity frameworks (ISM, Essential Eight, ACSC hardening guides).
  • Strong technical documentation skills (SOPs, design documentation).
  • Experience with Windows Server environments, including:
  • Active Directory, Entra ID, DNS, PKI, ADFS
  • File and Print, DFS
  • Microsoft System Center (SCOM, SCCM/MECM), Intune
  • Group Policy with Advanced Group Policy Management (AGPM)
