An Australian Government agency is seeking an experienced EL1 Senior Systems Analyst / Solution Design Manager to support major ICT initiatives. This is a long‑term opportunity within a high‑performing digital environment, contributing to large‑scale transformation impacting millions of Australians.
About the role
As a Senior Systems Analyst / Solution Design Manager, you will translate complex business requirements into technical solutions that align with established enterprise architectures. You will lead a team responsible for the planning, design and implementation of ICT solutions, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy and future capability needs.
This role requires strong leadership, the ability to influence stakeholders, and expertise in managing competing priorities while driving innovation and improvement across ICT delivery.
Key responsibilities
Your duties may include, but are not limited to:
Leadership and Team Management
- Lead and support day‑to‑day team operations, including performance monitoring and workflow management
- Lead and manage staff, with oversight of performance, attendance and wellbeing
- Develop staff capability through coaching, mentoring and succession planning
Solution Delivery
- Oversee the development and implementation of ICT solutions
- Identify gaps, risks, dependencies and improvement opportunities within existing functionality
- Ensure project deliverables and milestones are met within scope, timeframes and budget
- Manage team contribution to costing processes
Strategic and Business Management
- Provide input into business management, strategic planning and workforce planning
- Assist with contract, procurement, financial and resource management
- Report on achievement of business outcomes, KPIs and quality measures
- Monitor work output and quality against established standards
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project outcomes
- Build relationships with partner agencies and service providers
- Attend interagency meetings and contribute to cross‑agency initiatives
- Prepare and review technical and corporate written documentation
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Encourage innovation and support change management
- Contribute to ICT strategy and assist in resolving complex or conflicting priorities
Technical skills and experience
Applicants must have:
- A minimum of five years of current SAP ECC6 configuration experience across several SAP HR modules, ideally within the Australian Public Sector
Experience sought includes:- Personnel Administration
- Organisation Management
- Time Management
- Payroll and Superannuation (required)
- Performance Management
- Public Sector Leave Management
- Experience within government or a comparable large‑scale organisation (highly desirable)
Working arrangements
- Locations: Canberra or Melbourne only
- Full‑time onsite for the first six weeks, transitioning to a hybrid model (minimum three days onsite per week)
- Must be able to attend onsite at short notice when required
- Maximum 40 hours per week
Security clearance
- Negative Vetting Level 1 clearance.
Contract details
- Estimated start date: 1 April 2026
- Initial term: 12 months
- Extensions: Up to 24 months, to a maximum end date of 31 March 2029
