Our Federal Government client are currently looking to recruit a Data Product Owner to join their team for an initial 12 month contract.

Duties

  • Contributing to the data strategy and product roadmap for key customer accounts. Respond and oversee customer needs, pain-points and opportunities, research and recommend opportunities for improvement.
  • Using reporting and analysis tools and establish Data & Analytics capabilities to design, deliver and continually enhance data assets and products while leading the squad in product concept design and validation.
  • Maintaining, assembling, and prioritising a squad backlog, reflecting product roadmap activities and accommodating important and urgent ad hoc requests.
  • Leading backlog planning, including story/requirements definition and effort estimation, with increasing resolution for nearer term work.
  • Leading the squad in sprint planning, providing direction consistent with business requirements and priorities, ensuring all squad members are leveraged and contribute effectively to each sprint, and that continuous value is delivered by the squad to the customer, aligned to the strategy and roadmap.
  • Preparing and participating in regular showcases with the squad, sharing progress made with customers and other stakeholders and taking feedback into the product backlog.
  • Preparing and participate in quality assurance and solution standards reviews with the squad, sharing with Chapter Leads.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Hands on experience as a Data Product Owner in sprint and/or kanban product development processes.
  • Hands on experience in understanding complex business problems and translating into data product solution concepts, roadmaps and release plans. Communicating a product solution / journey to a squad.
  • Hands on experience in developing, refining, and maintaining a product backlog prioritised on business value, and hands on experience in effectively planning and managing resources to balance ad hoc requests, BAU and product development work as required.
  • Hands on experience to uncover, engage and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Intermediate skills with JIRA and Confluence, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
  • Showcase good analytical and evaluating skills, and demonstrable ability to visualise a data reporting solution and understand how data should be organised/presented to solve a problem.

Desirable:

  • Experience creating wireframes.
  • Data analysis skills.
  • Experience working in data businesses and/or working as a scrum master.
  • Hands on experience developing User Stories and UAC.
