Change and Communication Specialist

Contract | 6 months + 6‑month extension option
Location: Canberra ACT
Hybrid: 3 days in office, 2 days from home
Hours: Up to 37.5 per week
Clearance: Not required
Level: EL1 equivalent

A major Government agency is seeking an experienced Change and Communication Specialist to support the successful delivery of a significant IT and business transformation initiative. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional who thrives in fast‑paced, high‑performance environments and enjoys translating complex technical change into clear, meaningful outcomes for stakeholders.

About the Role

You will play a key role in designing and delivering targeted communication and change activities that support adoption of new systems, platforms, and processes. Working closely with policy, operational, and technical teams, you will ensure stakeholders understand impacts, are prepared for change, and are supported throughout delivery.

This role requires strong judgement, exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to operate with professionalism and flexibility in a dynamic program environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Communication and Change Delivery (IT and Analytics Initiatives)

* Design and deliver communication and change management activities for IT, data, and analytics projects
* Apply structured change methodologies to assess impacts and support adoption
* Support delivery teams to ensure smooth implementation and user readiness

2. Governance and Executive Support

* Coordinate program inputs, timelines, and milestones to support governance
* Prepare high‑quality executive and board‑level briefings, papers, and presentations
* Ensure alignment of schedules, dependencies, and reporting requirements

3. Stakeholder Engagement

* Build strong relationships across leadership, technical teams, and business areas
* Translate complex technical concepts into accessible messaging for diverse audiences
* Facilitate shared understanding of impacts, benefits, and required actions

4. Training and Capability Uplift

* Develop and coordinate training materials and capability uplift activities
* Identify skills and workforce readiness needs arising from change
* Support business areas to prepare staff for new processes and systems

5. Integration with Delivery Teams

* Work closely with project and program teams to align change and communication activities
* Apply pragmatic and adaptable approaches in a fast‑paced environment

6. Interpersonal Effectiveness

* Build trust and positive working relationships with a wide stakeholder base
* Maintain high quality outcomes while adapting to shifting priorities
