A leading federal government agency is seeking an AI Business Analyst to help deliver and govern responsible AI‑enabled features and services. In this role, you will work closely with multidisciplinary agile teams to translate business problems into clear, testable user stories and acceptance criteria, ensuring AI features are transparent, ethical, compliant and supported by strong human‑in‑the‑loop controls.
This position offers the opportunity to shape AI‑enabled processes, uplift organisational capability and contribute to safe, effective and scalable use of AI technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Elicit, analyse and document business, data and AI requirements; decompose into epics, features and user stories with testable acceptance criteria.
- Define AI‑specific, non‑functional requirements (transparency, safety, robustness, latency, privacy, security).
- Map business processes and decision points to determine AI vs rules‑based logic, including human authority levels and HITL checkpoints.
- Co‑design evaluation frameworks for AI features, including datasets, baselines, performance monitoring, drift, fairness and quality.
- Collaborate with data scientists, engineers and product owners to translate desired outcomes into model objectives, features and data constraints.
- Lead workshops, discovery sessions and backlog refinement; produce service blueprints, journey maps and future‑state workflows.
- Develop acceptance criteria and test cases for AI/ML features (shadow testing, A/B trials, red teaming, rollback plans).
- Document model/prompt assumptions, guardrails, redaction rules, retrieval scope and safety constraints.
- Contribute to privacy and risk assessments, including PIAs, threat assessments and governance documentation for AI artefacts.
- Ensure alignment with internal AI policy, AI governance frameworks and data governance standards.
- Support change management, communications and training for AI‑enabled processes and tools.
- Participate in communities of practice and continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications & Experience
- 3+ years' experience as a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst in digital service delivery and agile environments.
- Practical experience delivering or supporting AI‑enabled products within the Microsoft ecosystem (ML, NLP/LLMs, Copilot, intelligent automation).
- Ability to write clear, testable user stories and acceptance criteria for AI features, including evaluation metrics and guardrails.
- Knowledge of responsible and secure AI principles (privacy‑by‑design, human oversight, explainability, bias mitigation).
- Strong workshop facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Azure DevOps, Miro or equivalent tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with an ability to influence decision‑making.
Essential Criteria
(Candidates must provide responses, up to 3000 characters each)
- Demonstrated capability, knowledge, experience and clearances (if applicable) to meet role requirements.
- Proven experience delivering similar AI, data or digital analysis services.
- Demonstrated capacity to deliver and manage services over the proposed term.
- Ability to deliver positive social or environmental impact.
- Competitive pricing and value for money.
- A risk profile aligned with organisational requirements.
