About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Release Manager to establish and mature a Release Management function within a critical payments environment. This is a key leadership role where you will work closely with program and enterprise teams to embed best practice release processes and drive continuous improvement.

You will lead a small team and be responsible for governing and coordinating releases across complex infrastructure and application environments. This role requires strong stakeholder engagement, excellent planning capability and the ability to manage competing priorities in a highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a Release Management team to achieve strategic and operational objectives
  • Develop and maintain a forward release schedule balancing dependencies, priorities and resources
  • Coordinate releases across non-production and production environments to ensure seamless delivery
  • Identify and manage risks, issues and interdependencies impacting release outcomes
  • Conduct release readiness reviews and ensure adherence to quality and risk controls
  • Communicate release plans and changes clearly to stakeholders across the organisation
  • Collaborate with delivery and testing teams to improve release quality and resolve issues proactively
  • Participate in governance forums to align priorities and manage change windows
  • Drive continuous improvement of release processes and practices
  • Coach and support team members and stakeholders in release management frameworks and tools

About You

  • Proven experience leading or establishing a Release Management function within complex, large-scale environments
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and business teams
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and navigate complex delivery landscapes
  • Experience working within critical infrastructure or highly regulated environments
  • Sound understanding of release management best practices and emerging trends
  • Familiarity with DevOps methodologies and tools such as JIRA or ServiceNow is highly desirable

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in IT or a related field
  • ITIL Foundation certification
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Release Management
