The Opportunity

An opportunity is available for an experienced Mainframe Data Engineer to play a key role in delivering high‑quality data and analytics solutions within a large, complex enterprise environment.

This role focuses on designing, developing and maintaining mainframe‑based data pipelines that support Data Warehouse and business intelligence solutions used by internal and external stakeholders. You will work with large datasets, ensure data integrity, and contribute to analytics that directly support service delivery at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test and maintain SAS programs (Base, Macro, SAS/SQL) for data extraction, transformation and reporting
  • Build and optimise mainframe data pipelines to support data warehouse and analytics solutions
  • Collaborate with business analysts and subject matter experts to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Ensure data integrity, quality, privacy and security across the full data lifecycle
  • Support mainframe production environments, including batch scheduling and incident resolution
  • Produce clear and comprehensive documentation for code, processes and data workflows
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across data engineering, analytics and reporting

  • Prior experience within government or similar large-scale organisation preferred
